Health and Safety Manager
Salary: £47,000 – £52,000 DOE + benefits
Hours: 37.5 per week across Monday – Friday

The Role
Being an instrumental part of the Senior Leadership team, you will be responsible for guaranteeing a secure and healthy environment that adheres to all laws and regulations currently in place as well as future proofing for additional changes. This position is the next pivotal hire for the business and fundamental in ensuring that productivity prospers without negatively impacting employee’s efficiency. Having a demonstrable background withing manufacturing is critical within this role.
 
Further to the above your role will involve:
 
  • Developing and enforcing health and safety policies and leading safety initiatives
  • Conducting regular risk assessments, providing strategic recommendations and liaising with insurers to mitigate business risks
  • Ensuring legal compliance, reporting obligations and contractor safety
  • Collaborating with maintenance teams for equipment compliance
  • Providing health and safety training, supporting managers, and ensuring induction and refresher training adherence
  • Investigating incidents, determining root causes and implementing preventive actions
  • Developing and maintaining emergency response plans and conducting drills for emergency readiness
  • Performing regular safety inspections and audits, maintaining records and updating first aid boxes
  • Fostering positive safety culture, encourage employee involvement and play a visible role in health and safety leadership
  • Preparing and submitting health and safety reports, maintaining accurate records and managing the budgets
  • Identifying opportunities for safety improvement and implementing initiatives for enhanced safety performance

At this stage in your career you will have a demonstrable background within manufacturing, ensuring a safe working environment is absolutely at the forefront of everything you do. Secondly Quality, this has to be a trait that is inherent to you, we are looking for someone who makes decisions that ensure the outcomes are quality focused, be that, improvement of working environment or ensuring the workers are adhering to the standards the business operates to. Other skills we are looking to evidence:
 
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams
  • Detail-oriented with a keen eye for detail and outstanding organisational skills
  • Action-oriented, resourceful, with the ability to plan and align with business needs
  • Possess extensive knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Demonstrate robust analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Showcase leadership capabilities and the ability to instil a safety-centric culture
  • Proven experience in conducting safety training and audits
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and processes across disciplines
  • Certifications like NEBOSH and/or Level 6 H&S qualification are advantageous
  • Desirable: Fire Warden, Fit Aid, and SEMA Inspection training
