Senior / Principal Mechanical Engineer
📍 Bristol (Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days home)
The Opportunity
I’m currently working with a growing and design-led building services consultancy looking to appoint a Senior / Principal Mechanical Engineer to support the delivery of a strong and diverse project portfolio across the South West.
This is a key hire within a close-knit team, offering genuine influence over project delivery, client relationships, and the future direction of the business.
The Role
You will take a leading role in the design and delivery of mechanical building services across sectors including commercial, residential, education, and retail.
Working closely with senior leadership and clients, you’ll play both a technical and strategic role within the business.

The Role

Key responsibilities include:
- Leading mechanical design from concept through to detailed design
- Delivering HVAC, public health, and low-carbon system solutions
- Producing and reviewing calculations, specifications, and technical reports
- Managing and coordinating Revit/BIM design outputs
- Supporting energy modelling and sustainable design strategies
- Attending and leading client and design team meetings
- Mentoring junior engineers and supporting team development
- Ensuring projects are delivered on time and to a high technical standard
- Supporting client relationship management and business development
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering
- Proven experience within a building services consultancy environment
- Strong technical capability across mechanical/HVAC design
- Experience delivering projects across a range of sectors
- Proficiency with industry tools (e.g. Revit, IES, Hevacomp)
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
- Chartered or working towards (CIBSE / IMechE) preferred
