Senior / Principal Mechanical Engineer

📍 Bristol (Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days home)



The Opportunity

I’m currently working with a growing and design-led building services consultancy looking to appoint a Senior / Principal Mechanical Engineer to support the delivery of a strong and diverse project portfolio across the South West.

This is a key hire within a close-knit team, offering genuine influence over project delivery, client relationships, and the future direction of the business.



The Role

You will take a leading role in the design and delivery of mechanical building services across sectors including commercial, residential, education, and retail.

Working closely with senior leadership and clients, you’ll play both a technical and strategic role within the business.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading mechanical design from concept through to detailed design
    • Delivering HVAC, public health, and low-carbon system solutions
    • Producing and reviewing calculations, specifications, and technical reports
    • Managing and coordinating Revit/BIM design outputs
    • Supporting energy modelling and sustainable design strategies
    • Attending and leading client and design team meetings
    • Mentoring junior engineers and supporting team development
    • Ensuring projects are delivered on time and to a high technical standard
    • Supporting client relationship management and business development


Requirements
  • Degree qualified in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering
    • Proven experience within a building services consultancy environment
    • Strong technical capability across mechanical/HVAC design
    • Experience delivering projects across a range of sectors
    • Proficiency with industry tools (e.g. Revit, IES, Hevacomp)
    • Strong communication and client-facing skills
    • Chartered or working towards (CIBSE / IMechE) preferred
