We are looking for talented individuals to join this growing team and help shape a coordinated, data-led approach to managing Power Resilience across Thames Water.

What you’ll be doing as a HV Power Resilience Project Engineer:
The HV Power Resilience Project Engineer will support the delivery of Power Resilience across Thames Water’s water and wastewater sites by completing resilience assessments, developing proposed solutions and helping to implement priority interventions.

As a HV Power Resilience Project Engineer, you will apply core LV/HV engineering and Power Resilience principles to identify vulnerabilities and ensure power systems are safe, dependable and better equipped to withstand and recover from power interruptions.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a vital area of UK infrastructure and make a meaningful difference to customer outcomes and environmental protection. As the team grows, members will play an important role in shaping future ways of working and bringing their expertise to create lasting positive impact across Thames Water.

Base location: Location can be flexible for either London or Thames Valley (e.g., Beckton, Hampton, Reading & Swindon)

Working pattern or hours: 36 Hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Key responsibilities:
  • Resilience Assessments: You will lead complex HV site and system Power Resilience assessments, producing surveys, updated drawings and data packs that identify vulnerabilities, critical paths and opportunities for improvement.
    • Solution Development: You will support the development of HV Power Resilience solutions, contributing to design options, calculations and scopes while working closely with colleagues and stakeholders.
    • Resilience Delivery: You will collaborate with internal delivery teams to help ensure planned power investments are delivered effectively and in line with Power Resilience standards.
    • Continuous Improvement: You will use technical problem-solving and analytical thinking to support improvements in resilience, safety and compliance, while encouraging the sharing and adoption of best practice across the team.
    • Technical Documentation and Records: You will maintain accurate and up-to-date technical records, including tests, inspections, drawings and outage/blackstart plans for assigned sites.
What you should bring to the role?
  • Held AP/SAP authorisations and HV/LV operational experience.
    • Experience delivering, designing and estimating HV and LV engineering projects.
    • Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
    • The ability to work independently while building positive working relationships and using initiative to deliver high-quality outcomes.
The essential criteria to help you succeed in this role are:
  • 11kV switching and operational experience.
    • Strong understanding of LV and HV electrical engineering principles.
    • Ability to interpret and update technical documentation, single line diagrams and risk assessments.
    • Full UK Driving Licence.
    • Proficient in the use of engineering and asset management systems.
    • Familiarity with compliance and safety standards (CDM, SEMD, PR06).
    • Data analysis and reporting for technical and compliance purposes.
What’s in it for you?
  • Offering a salary between £60,000 and £68,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
    • Car allowance of £4,500 per annum.
    • Annual Leave: 26 days holiday per year increasing to 30 with length of service (plus bank holidays).
    • Performance-related pay plan directly linked to company performance measures and targets.
    • Generous Pension Scheme through AON.
    • Access to a wide range of benefits designed to support you and your family’s health, wellbeing and finances, from annual health MOTs and access to physiotherapy and counselling, to Cycle to Work schemes, shopping vouchers and life assurance.
