Secondary School - Science Technician - HARROW

Position: Science Technician
Location: Secondary School in Harrow
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Salary: Dependent on experience

A secondary school in Harrow is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Science Technician to join our dynamic Science department. As a Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the teaching and learning of science within the school.
Key responsibilities:

• Prepare and set up equipment and materials for science experiments and demonstrations
• Maintain stock levels of equipment and chemicals, and place orders for new supplies as needed
• Ensure that all equipment is stored safely and securely when not in use
• Assist teachers and students during practical lessons, providing technical support and guidance where necessary
• Maintain laboratory equipment and facilities, ensuring that everything is kept clean and in good working order
• Carry out risk assessments for practical activities, and ensure that health and safety regulations are followed at all times
• Assist with the setting up and invigilation of exams and assessments as required
• Support science teachers with administrative tasks such as photocopying, filing, and data entry

Qualifications and skills required:

• Previous experience working as a Science Technician in an educational setting is preferred
• A Science related degree
• A good understanding of health and safety regulations in a laboratory environment
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and students
• A flexible and proactive attitude, with a willingness to take on additional duties as required
