Job Description

SEN Teaching Assistant
Are you a psychology graduate searching for an opportunity to work alongside some amazing SEN pupils in a newly transformed school?

Do you think that you could use your skills and knowledge surrounding additional learning needs to support SEN pupils as they progress through the national curriculum?

***SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant
***Brighton and Hove
***£80-£90 per day
***September 2024- July 2025
***Outstanding opportunity for a graduate to gain experience in an Ofsted rated ‘Good’ school.

The Graduate
To be successful in this SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant role, you will have completed at least a bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field and will be looking for a position in which you can nurture and develop your pre-existing skills and knowledge surrounding additional learning needs. Whilst prior experience of working alongside children is not essential, a clear communication style, a warm, welcoming presence, and a desire to support the emotional and academic wellbeing of SEN students are all mandatory qualities that the successful candidate will possess.

The Role
As an SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include providing 1-2-1 and small group support to pupils with additional learning needs across all areas of the syllabus. You will be monitoring pupil progress and assisting teaching staff in the formulation of lesson plans and the creation of learning materials to ensure that all individuals’ needs are accommodated. In this role, you will also be building strong relationships with both staff and students to ensure a positive learning environment; this will be essential to improving pupil attainment.

The School
This caring primary school benefits from excellent learning facilities, including an outdoor learning environment and vegetable garden to aid in the development of an array of skills that will assist students in life outside of school. According to Ofsted, this school has a safe and happy learning environment, with staff who endeavour to instil their fundamental ‘Think Big’ ethos into all pupils. Following the arrival of a brand-new senior leadership team just a few years ago, there have been huge improvements in all aspects of school life which can still be seen to be taking place to this day.
