A secondary school in Harrow is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Science Technician to join our dynamic Science department. As a Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the teaching and learning of science within the school.
Key responsibilities:
- Prepare and set up equipment and materials for science experiments and demonstrations
- Maintain stock levels of equipment and chemicals, and place orders for new supplies as needed
- Ensure that all equipment is stored safely and securely when not in use
- Assist teachers and students during practical lessons, providing technical support and guidance where necessary
- Maintain laboratory equipment and facilities, ensuring that everything is kept clean and in good working order
- Carry out risk assessments for practical activities, and ensure that health and safety regulations are followed at all times
- Assist with the setting up and invigilation of exams and assessments as required
- Support science teachers with administrative tasks such as photocopying, filing, and data entry
Qualifications and skills required:
- Previous experience working as a Science Technician in an educational setting is preferred
- A Science related degree
- A good understanding of health and safety regulations in a laboratory environment
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and students
- A flexible and proactive attitude, with a willingness to take on additional duties as required
